Guess who has a new hobby?
Thats right, I have started moulding soap, and its pretty cool. I made my first soaps yesterday, and found them really easy to do. I am still waiting for the soap dyes to arrive, so my first soaps are chunks of coloured commercial soap in a clear, scented soap base, and they look pretty cool. I am going to try making spirals today :)
I have a whole helluva lot of clear soap base to experiment with because we found 11kg of it on ebay and it worked out a whole lot cheaper per kilo than buying it in smaller quantities. Ali kindly lugged it home in her backpack, even though its bloody heavy! (Must be love...)
Having so much is all right though, because the 'loaf' mould I bought holds around 800g at a time. Guess what we will be including in everyone's Christmas presents this year?
In other (unrelated) news, work on our bathroom starts tomorrow, so we have to pack up all the accumulated junk from the past few years. With luck we will be able to use the new bath by Tuesday morning, but more likely only by Wednesday morning, or Thursday if we are unlucky. We will have to ask friends if we can visit for a shower! The only reason this work is happening is because the cheapy plastic bath cracked a while ago, so we have been unable to use it to bath in, only shower. Not too much of a problem, but it does need replacing and the landlord has now managed to find a builder/plumber he likes. It's a nuisance having builders in, but I will be glad to have a modern bathroom suite in there! It has been getting a little dire recently.
