End of holidays

Depressingly, its back to work tomorrow. At least it starts off easy - on Friday and Monday we only have the new kids, before the rest of the yobbos come back on Tuesday.

On the plus side, I am getting a veneer put on my tooth this afternoon. I am quite excited, as it currently looks really dark in photos, and means I don't want to smile when having my photo taken. My tooth started going a funny colour after I had a root canal done a couple of years ago and the tooth died. Apparently it happens quite frequently, and so I was at least forewarned. Still, it had turned into quite an issue for me, ruining photos that were otherwise ok!

Perhaps I should do before and after photos today.

My subconscience is tired of dropping hints...

...so it wrapped one round a brick and threw it, in the form of a dream...

I was in a confusing, murky, swampy place, presumably some sort of 'limbo'. There was a tiny, fairy-like angel creature. (Imagine a Christmas tree angel in whispy lavender fluff) She didn't talk, but seemed to radiate some sort of vague promise, if only I could figure out how to leave the swamp and go with her. Then appeared a used-car type salesman, chatty and friendly, who talked to me and helped me out the water - it was easy, and I barely realised I had done it until afterwards. The fairy creature disappeared in a huff as the salesman led me away.

I soon realised I was in a sort of hell, where I found myself having to wander the school to cover whiteboards with small writing, all complete drivel, using crappy boardmarkers. I kept taking new markers out the box, all different colours, but they all failed pretty quickly. I had to cover the board in the allocated time, then wander off to do it again, and no one paid any attention to me or cared about my labours except me. I was compelled to keep doing it even though I knew that as soon as I wandered off the board would be wiped clean. Something in me kept me going even if I wanted / tried to deviate, (for example by writing on lockers or walls or looking for permanent markers) despite the apparent lack of external pressure. It was rather distressing.

Thankfully, in the nature of dreams, it pretty quickly turned into a more 'normal' type of bizarre dream, with kids trying to set off the fire alarm by... wobbling CCTV camera posts, as well as doing other strange things which wouldn't unduly surprise me outside a dream!

School starts again in a week. I need a new job.

One year...

It has been a year since my grandmother passed away. So long, and yet barely any time at all. With each day that passes, I find it easier to cope with the pain, I remember the good times, and I barely cry in public any more.

Why is it then, that society expects today to be the day I cry the most? Logically, if it gets a little easier to cope as time goes on, then a year later should be a day when I cry less, not more. It doesn't work like that though, emotions don't follow logic, and triggers like anniversaries bring it all to the fore again.

I miss her so much, I wish more than anything that I could still pick up the phone and speak to her again, even just once, to say:

"I love you Ouma and I miss you now more than ever."

more free stuff...

Heh, free hand massage as part of a charity awareness and fundraising drive, and free fiver for tasting flavoured water and saying what I thought of it... The High Street can be an interesting place if you have time to meander and take up these offers. Pretty cool.

Free Broadband

A year ago, we decided to leave NTL because, frankly, their service is shit and we had put up with them for more than a year. We phoned up to organise the cancellation, and the next day a letter arrived offering us a year of free broadband if we stayed. Well, shit or not, free broadband is not something one turns down, so we kept the free service and cancelled the rest of the services we weren't using anyway.

This was due to run out next month, so Ali phoned up to cancel it, and got another 3 months free... I wonder how long they will keep doing this in the hopes that we will forget to cancel it when it runs out and end up paying for a month or two before we realise?

No email right now...

Just a quickie - our email server has been down for a few days. Ali went into London yesterday and thought she had fixed it, but it went down again soon after she got back. We have a plan to get it sorted, but that may take a few more days.

If you want to get in touch with me, or have sent me email in the past few days, your best bet is to call/SMS/text me if its urgent, otherwise, please leave emails until this weekend or until I update here saying its working again. Ta.

EDIT: Well, its finally running after a fashion, though emails are still in a queue, so best not to mail me unless its urgent for another few days while all the spam that has queued up over the past week gets delivered. Thanks!
